Being able to prove your English ability is one of the most important aspects for students studying English. At ILC Nyelviskola, we understand this importance. We are happy to now be able to offer this test for our current students as well as any prospective students!
The TOEIC® (Test of English for International Communication) test is an English language proficiency test for non-Native speakers of English. It measures the everyday English skills of people working in an international environment. The scores indicate how well people can communicate in English with others in business, commerce and industry. The test does not require specialized knowledge or vocabulary beyond that of a person who uses English in everyday work activities.
The TOEIC test is a two-hour multiple-choice test that consists of 200 questions divided into two sections:
Listening Comprehension: 100 listening question administered by audiocassette. There are four types of questions. You will listen to a variety of statements, questions, short conversations, and short talks recorded in English, then answer the questions. Total time: about 45 minutes.
Reading: 100 reading questions, with three types of questions. You will read a variety of materials and respond at your own pact to questions based on the content of the materials. Total time: about 75 minutes.
The exam lasts about 2.5 hours.
The TOEIC is not a test in which one ‘passes’ or ‘fails’. Many companies around the world prefer to set their own standards of English qualifications for employees to the TOEIC. By providing a consistent, objective measurement of English knowledge, employers are able to best determine which candidates would be best suited for different positions.
The TOEIC only measures reading and listening skills to ensure its objectivity and allows test takers and testing centers a rapid, affordable, convenient and most importantly, reliable exam.
The total scoring for the TOEIC is based on a 990-point scale, with the lowest score being 10. Both sections have 495 points maximum – each correct response is registered and then converted to the point scale. This ensures test takers are tested on what they DO know, not on what they do NOT know!
As an accredited testing center, ILC Nyeviskola has trained test-givers who can either distribute the exam in our facility, or at your place of employment or school. We offer flexible time tables for your convenience.
